Dimensions of Sprocket

Sprockets may be classified into standard sprockets, HK sprockets as well as other sprockets.
one. Regular sprocket
Standard sprockets are ANSI sprockets which may be engaged with normal series roller chains. See P125 for dimensions.
You’ll find two kinds of tooth profiles: U-tooth and S-tooth.
two. HK sprocket
HK sprockets could be engaged with HK series roller chains, and people for single strand chains are identical to common sprockets. Even so, sprockets for numerous strand chains are unique from common sprockets in sprocket tooth profile.
3. Other sprockets
Other sprockets are made in accordance for the following calculation formulas to suit respective specialty chains.
The sprockets employed for the following chains will be the identical since the regular sprockets in tooth gap type, but different in tooth thickness (sprocket tooth profile).
4. Calculation of sprocket dimensions
The dimensions of standard sprockets as well as other basic sprockets are calculated as follows. In the beginning, the diameters of sprockets are calculated in the following calculation formulas.
Subsequent, sprocket tooth profile (the form on the tooth depending on its thickness) is calculated in the following calculation formulas. (The values proven in the following pages were calculated by these formulas and regarded as the regular values.)

Calculation of pitch diameter, tip diameter and caliper diameter
The essential dimensions of a sprocket suitable to get a chain pitch of 1 mm are respectively termed pitch diameter factor, tip diameter element and caliper diameter component. The respective elements for respective numbers of teeth are listed below. If these things are multiplied by chain pitch, the fundamental dimensions with the corresponding sprocket is often obtained.

Calculation formulas for tooth gap forms
Because the most rational tooth gap types during which the strain angle alterations in response on the elongation of a smoothly rotated roller chain using the lapse of service time, ANSI specify two sorts of tooth profiles: U-type and S-type. Normally, S-type tooth profiles are adopted in accordance with ANSI, and our common sprockets also have S-tooth profiles.
